The purpose of the post is to provide an initial point of customer service on University Reception, to respond to and resolve customer enquiries, providing a wide range of information and services.

The University of Bedfordshire has invested in its reception and switchboard service to ensure that students and visitors have the best possible customer experience when telephoning the University or visiting its two main campuses in Park Square, Luton and Polhill, Bedford. There will be a small reception team based on each campus responsible for greeting visitors, contributing to the staffing of the University switchboard and signposting students to appropriate student services.
We are keen to find students to work in our reception teams who have excellent inter personal skills and ability to deal appropriately with customer enquiries. Successful applicants will find that they receive ample support from a core of permanent staff.

Posts are based in Luton but may involve occasional working in Bedford for which expenses will be paid.

Person Specification:

Qualifications
Educated to degree level or solid customer service experience in commercial setting – ESSENTIAL
ECDL or CLAIT or equivalent IT qualification – DESIRABLE
Knowledge
Competent use of office software – ESSENTIAL
Knowledge of higher education Knowledge of customer services in a reception setting – DESIRABLE
Experience
Experience of working with PCs or ICT systems – ESSENTIAL
Experience of having worked in a direct customer service environment – ESSENTIAL
Experience of working on a switchboard – DESIRABLE
Experience of being involved with organising emergency responses to fire or accident – DESIRABLE
Skills/Abilities/competencies
Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) – ESSENTIAL
